The Importance of Having a Good Team Working with You

Having the support of a team is vital. It doesn’t matter whether you are the person needing care or a family member in a caring role; looking at the whole situation as a whole, there is no doubt that having a solid team around you will lead to more positive outcomes. As an NDIS registered provider of disability services on the Gold Coast, we can bring a team of specialists into your situation, working in a way that benefits your overall care plans.

More Comprehensive Support

You may have heard the saying ‘Jack of all trades, master of none’, and this can be applied to family carers who have inadvertently taken on too many responsibilities and are now fighting fire to keep everything running. It is not a criticism in any way but rather the way care has been augmented socially. It is easier for primary healthcare professionals if a family is willing to take on care of a loved one, but that does not mean you should be suffering as a result. Respite and day centre services are all part of a wider team of people who can support you with your care needs and also give valuable aid to the unpaid carers found in so many families.

Experts Form the Whole Picture

When you have a good team to work with, you end up with a range of people, all experts in a different areas, coming together to complete the picture. With a clearly defined care plan, everyone is aware of how they fit into each aspect of daily life, and as a result, everyone involved will be happy, and importantly the person requiring the care will feel empowered and confident that they are valued and listened to. Our NDIS support workers have a range of skills and strengths and provide care to the patient and support to them and their families to bring about independence and a well-rounded life that functions even with additional care needs considered.

Improved Communication

Another area that improves when you create a team is communication. If several people are involved in care but have no cohesion, then everyone suffers negatively. Important tasks can be missed or duplicated, and there is a sense of frustration. Needing care is often a physical issue, and this can leave people frustrated and angry that they have to rely on others trapped by a body with issues. Watching a care team fail to work together is depressing and damaging and can lead to a massive mental health issue that can be easily avoided if everyone works together. Communication is critical here; everyone needs to push and pull information and stay in the loop to ensure the best outcomes for the patient. Our patient and their family are at the heart of everything we do; think of us as your ready-made team. We come in to support you to thrive, and we want to build a team, not take over and install regimes that don’t work.
